DAVOSLIFE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT
“DavosLife – Merging Science with Nature”
The Davos Research and Development (R&D) laboratory is one of the world’s largest and most innovative centre for Tocotrienol research. Our goal is to develop Davos Tocotrienol into an innovative natural product that adds to the growing body of evidence relating to Tocotrienol’s ability to help preserve a healthy body. Our research is focused on understanding the basis of Tocotrienol’s function in the body consequently unlocking the potential of this natural botanical.
Our R&D laboratory for process development is located adjacent to our tocotrienol extraction plant in Singapore. This is to facilitate the interdisciplinary exchange between research scientists and production colleagues for efficient and continuous process optimization.
Our tocotrienol in vivo research is conducted utilising the shared scientific facilities located within the renowned scientific research hub of Singapore – Biopolis. The presence of cross-disciplinary research institutes helps A*Star create and sustain an outstanding biological research environment for our scientists. Currently, Davos conducts and/or sponsors in-vitro, in-vivo and clinical studies to evaluate tocotrienol and its potential health benefits.
Areas the DavosLife work include:
1. Tocotrienol in cancer prevention and therapy
2. Tocotrienol in cardiovascular health
3. Tocotrienol in dermatological applications
Since becoming operational in 2006, Davos R&D team has deciphered multiple molecular pathways responsible for tocotrienol anti-cancer properties. In particular, we elucidated for the first time how – tocotrienol can reverse cancer cell proliferation and prevent cancer cells metastasis. In addition, we have also conducted animal and human studies aiming to understand clinical benefits and toxicity of tocotrienol. The experimental results generated indicate that tocotrienol has low toxic potential to human, is not irritating to skin or the eyes and is not genotoxic. Together, these achievements place Davos among one of the most productive and innovative tocotrienol research laboratories in the world.
